Default Cheap gas struts for dog guards

One of my dog guard gas struts failed, which seems to be a common problem based on other posts on here. But, as I don't actually have a dog, I didn't really want to spend much money on replacing it and considered removing the guard instead. However, I found these gas struts at the very reasonable price of £1.79 each, so I have fitted an 80Nm version and it works fine.

The new strut has the same type of ball and socket joints as the original so it just clips into place. See attached photo.

Both my struts have never worked so I always keep the guard down, or use a cable tie to hold it up.

Lets see how these go!

I’ve had my dog guard for years, the same one for my V70 and now my XC70. It’s goes up and down like the proverbial whores knickers and works as well today as it did ten years ago but thank you for researching the issue and providing a solution for those who have problems with theirs staying up!

Did you get the 80Nm or 60Nm version?
I guessed at 80Nm, but as I only changed one of mine I don't know what that would be like with both replaced.
