Just to let you know there is a problem with the Volvo UK website producing the voucher for this offer. My dealer honoured it anyway.

Depends on your engine, just had mine done on an XC60 D5 and you go from 220 to 230bhp.
As well as an increase in power it also makes the gearbox more responsive. So what's it like to drive? Well in D the car feels crisper with a quicker part throttle down change, a bit more shove however go into Sport and the car comes alive, much quick downchanges and better mid range power makes overtakes a doddle

That's good to know.
My D4 is listed as going from 190 to 220 but I was curious to know the difference in normal D mode. I'm still torn between getting the gearshift paddles or Polestar. Currently the gearbox is rarely in the right gear when in D or S hence the thought of getting the paddles. Not sure what difference Polestar would make to insurance. Anyone got any comments on that? |

You’ll get sick of intervening with the paddles. Polestar much better value

I just find the auto box is never in the right gear on some of the twisty roads I drive. D just wants to be in the highest gear it can so ends up being below the peak torque and S just holds on too long to some gears. I use the manual shift a LOT on these roads and just use D for town and straighter roads It's such a shame that the paddles aren't standard as the £600+ it costs to change the steering wheel is ridiculous |

Polestar added earlier this week. Got the £200 discount and my insurer only wanted another £35 to cover the enhancements to renewal next July, so thought why not!
Early days yet but car feels more poised...and eager. The gear changing is completely different to that experienced before Polestar and does catch you by surprise...to begin with. I have the 8 speed auto box so guess you would notice the changes more than on a manual. Due to the added power in the lower ranges, the gears appear change a lot more quickly when you accelerate hard...and the power does keep coming for longer than it did before, thus enhancing the driving experience. Prior to the modification I felt that the car held on to the gear for too long sometimes and it just ran out off a puff a bit...whereas now this seems to have changed. So I guess it does what it was designed to do...but doesn't change the characteristics of the car too much...but a pleasant enhancement nevertheless.

I'm booked for the 24th. Direct Line only wanted an extra £34 so all good
I'm really interested to see how it benefits my D4 AWD. On paper, it's a healthy power increase to 220bhp but I'm really hoping the gearbox is substantially improved from the current poor set up If I'm not happy with it, I'll get it removed and revert back to my original plan of getting the paddles installed |
