Hi Dave

I haven't got the Pipercross part number, but I do have the dimensions (across the rubber seal part)

Either 330mm x 235mm

or 13 x 9 1/4 inches.

I too have been caught out be the two different sizes fitted to the 940. I hope this is the correct one for you....

Shaun

Hi Dave, that's a pity. Maybe there is someone else interested.....

As a point of information, how important is it that the airbox is not fully airtight.?meaning that the clips are broken and the lid is no longer a tight fit.....

Maybe - at least they know the size now!

That's a good question, the filtere air is between the filter and the inside of the lid, with the based drawing unfiltered air in from the outside world to go through the filter into the lid and out to the MAF/inlet system.

When you say the clips are broken, is it all of them?

I'd suggest a replacement filter box with good clips then to coer all eventualities. There's a couple of late 940s being broken at present :

https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=287440

https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=299462

First one is 360beast (Luke) and second is Griston64 (Mark), a lot of the stuff has now gone from both cars but i think the air filter boxes are still there.

Meanwhile until you get a replacement, something like this would do to hold it closed :

Not sure on the size, definitely worth measuring instead of guessing as it's surprising how all the sides add up to the toal length!

Thanks for that, Dave. I have just discovered a company selling three metre lengths of Hose Clamp Banding 12.7mm x 3m with 6 clips in Stainless, together with six clips,so I might just go for the better option.£23.53 inc vat (probably plus postage) Seems like a no brainer to me....

Have you got any air-con companies near you? If so, go and see one of their guys and ask for a length of strapping band and the clip, probably get it a lot cheaper!
