Is my air-conditioning working properly
I have noticed when you set the selector knob so the air is directed to the main vents it will stay blowing from these vents until you Excelerat and then the air is blowing on your feet. Once you have reached the speed you want to do and bring up your Excelerator just to hold the car at that speed the airflow returns two the main vents.
When driving solo this does not cause much of a problem,, but when I am towing the caravan your Excelerator is always down more than it is up and a lack of cold air from the main vents is annoying. I understand the system works on vacuum control and have checked the 2 check valves near the bulkhead. They seem to be OK ,is there any more check valves hidden away to check or what else could be the problem or is it working normally. Any advice or ideas are most welcome thank you for your time. |

RE: Is my air-conditioning working properly
Your problem is caused by a vacuum leak somewhere in the several small vacuum pipes feeding into the airconditioning. The vacuum is fed to a vacuum relay which sends vacuum to the various actuators in the aircon system. They operate the various flaps controlling the airflow. I would suspect the main feed to the aircon which goes first to a vacuum reservoir then tees off to the vacuum relay (electronically controlled). All the best, Peter. |

RE: Is my air-conditioning working properly
Peter is correct and you are likely to have a leak in the vacuum system. There is just one more thing to check and that is the non-return valve in the vacuum feed from the manifold. If this has failed you will also get the symptoms that you describe.
Just to be non-helpful, I cannot recall where the non-return valve is situated. Sorry! All the best.
