760 keeps cutting out
A friend of mine in the NE is having problems with her 15 yr old 760. Husband works out of UK and the local Volvo garage are not much help, saying they have no experience with such an old model.
As she explains it, the engine turns over fine, when she engages Drive (auto transmission) it goes away ok. However on slowing down or stopping, when she agian puts her foot on the accelerator - nothing happens, then all the dash lts come on and the engine cuts out. After a while she can start it up again, but the problem simply reoccurs. Volvo have cleaned the CIS (?) valve and checked the fuel pump which appears ok. Any ideas, Regards Dave Thompson |

RE: 760 keeps cutting out
My pride and joy is my Volvo 760GLE. 1989 model. I had exactly the same problem with mine two years ago, and it was the Air flow meter which needed replacing. It cost me about £350 at Volvo Garage.

RE: 760 keeps cutting out
Thanks very much for your advice and apologises for the delay in getting back to you. I was waiting to hear the outcome from the NE. It does appear to have been just that - the air flow meter. It has been replaced in the past couple of days and so far, all is well. So thanks again.
