855 tdi 1996 looking for a new home.
Well I just have to face facts,my 855 Auto, is not being attended to, I have been telling myself perhaps I will feel better manana, not going to happen. I have a permanently displaced disc,at my age it is NOT getting better. Therefor I have to look for somebody to take Her over. I was in the process of replacing all the belts, done the pump belt and pulleys, with Volvo/Ina parts. That's as far as I got. I have the kit to do the cam and serpentine belts. I have changed the following,oil/fuel/ and air filters(MAN) changed engine oil & flushed and changed antifreeze. new wiper blades(done the mod.on wiper arm) New tyre on spare. replaced new back half of ign.switch to stop indicators & other bits &bobs playing up. If you want to check MOT history, reg. no. is P82ECU The Lady I bought it from,in the village. Had it with her late husband from two years old. It has done 112 thousand miles. it is white, roof rails.new non eu no.plates.four good tyres two Pirrelli & two Kumho ,no rust on wheel arches! fairly new Yuasa battery,VERY clean inside,no tears on seats,Volvo rubber mud mats. No tow bar. there are no dents on body but the bumper corners are scraped.
I do not want to make money on it,I want to save from the breakers yard if poss,I also have the crank holding tool,by the way. If I were to ask £200,would that be unreasonable? It is on sorn by the way. Anybody interested? Regards,Keith.

'Morning, Keith. Sorry to hear about your indisposition. I trust that your car will go to a good home - it sounds a bargain for someone. Also hope that you will continue to frequent the forums even though Volvoless - there are precedents, you know!
Regards, John.

Morning John, thanks for your kind thoughts, I am a wee bit sad re. parting with 'Long five' Do you know about J.A.P engines? There are Short 4's & Long 5's.(cylinder studs) So seemed appropriate. BTW,Can I add you to my 'Friends list? Have just got me another PC,it's on windows 10, trying to find my way around!!!! I always shudder when I see "Easy set up" HELP!
Thanks Again,for your kind words,Regards,Keith.

Signature
I had pondered upon your signature, Keith, but thought it was something Volvo related (which it is in a way) of which I was unaware.
Yes, I knew about JAP engines and their use by many different manufacturers, not least Brough, but not their technicalities; its true that you learn something new every day! Yes, please do add me to your Friends list if you wish. Regards, John.

Sorry to hear of your problems. I would have had this like a shot were it not for the geographical inconvenience!! Good luck with sale, I'm sure it will find a gold home on here. Gbn

J A P Engines
Quote:
J A Prestwich were in Tottenham, they were the only engine for speedway and grasstrack for years. They were mostly short fours, there was quite a black market trade in jap parts, don't tell anyone. sometimes in engineering, simplicity is a thing of beauty,do you think? total loss lubrication via a pilgrim pump, but with magnesium crank cases, steel push rods and an alloy con.rod. OHV only two valves. but for what they were used for, they flew! Alf Hagon, who I worked with for a time and was also a friend, said the basis of a good engine was a good set of flywheels. the demise of the JAP Engine was when the parts supply ran out, long after the factory had closed. If you google J A Prestwich, you will find some mouth watering pictures Thanks for listening to me waffling on John,Regards,Keith.
