Default Coolant issue

Hi,

So we recently bought a 2015 XC60 from the UK, had it brought into Ireland and all was well, then it started showing coolant low warning, turns out every time i open the cap air rushes out. This happens a lot on a daily basis, so i rang my local dealer and got the recall done but im not quite sure what they actually done because it done it again once i got it back from them!
So i sent it back in and they have drained the coolant, vacuumed the system, put fresh coolant in and pressure tested the system and all was good! Until we spent the weekend driving it and the same thing happened, coolant low level warning came on and again i opened the cap and air comes rushing out.

Does anybody have any similar experience with this or am i facing a blown head gasket possibly? Its a D4 190BHP R design.

Does the 'air' smell of diesel exhaust?

Not sure what engine you have (D4 is a power band rating that can apply to the 5-cylinder or the VEA 4-cylinder) but if it's the VEA then I put this photo into a thread of the extra pipework installed by the recent recall... https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showp...2&postcount=13

Hopefully it is something relatively simple.

However, I used to own a 2015 XC60 D4 VEA and it started suffering sporadic coolant loss - this was eventually traced to a cylinder head and head gasket issue. Luckily for me the repair was covered by the warranty.

My dealer was very good and they had seen this issue before. It's not a common problem but is does happen.

My advice is to get it checked out ASAP while the car is still new to you.
