JohnL, I had a very similar issue on my XC90 D5 2011.
Vibrations on and off between 50-70 mph. Replaced Haldex fluid, wheel balance, wheel alignment...no difference. In the end, the solution was 4 brand new tires. Previously I had some SLIGHTLY older tires on the rear. Once all tires were the same, all vibration issues disappeared for good! |

If it's coming from the front end, check for play in the inner steering rack track rod. Mine has a vibration from the front when accelerating and this was the cause.

Well still trying to get to the bottom of this,
Its fine driving up to about 50-55mph, then its starts the vibration and stays there right up to 90mph, I try not go that fast anymore, just in case something flies off. As I noticed before the rear coupling seems to be very loose although it hasn't come totally adrift yet, looking in the parts book there appears to 2 types of couplings, one for auto gearbox which is damped, at about £460, and one for a manual gearbox which isn't damped at about 2/3rd of the price, so wondering if the undamped one would work, or will this cause another issue? Does anybody have any access to Volvo techs to ask please. Are there any good breakers that may help with a good low mileage used damped coupling? my car has done in excess of 413800kms, the rest of it is fine..... Hopefully that hasn't jinks it! John |

Does the vibration come on suddenly around 55mph - when the torque converter locks? If so - likely something on the propshaft.... front CV, or coupling on the diff.

Just to close this out now, I bit the bullet and bought the AOC damper coupling, and hurray its cured it, I can now drive at 120kmh smooth as silk again.
When I started the job this morning, I gave the outer can a twist and it came completely apart, it would have done many more Kms! Here are a couple of photos for the record. John |
