Rear Break Problem on 850R
Hello Everyone
I have a P96 850R Auto Estate. The front and rear disks and pads have been, replaced with genuine Volvo parts within the last 2 months. The problem is the car is making a loud drumming and vibration on heavy breaking. The rear disks seem to be becoming very hot and this problem starts, as soon as the disks have cooled the problem goes away. I have been into a Volvo dealer and spoken with a senior technician and he has explained that this is a problem on the 850R as the standard rear disks arn't up to the job of stopping a nearly 2 tonne car. He said the only cure is a upgrade Volvo offer with vented and cross drilled larger disks and Bremo 4pot calipers at a whopping cost of £1500 + VAT and fitting. This is the cost of the car so is not an option. Has anyone else suffered this problem and found the cause and fixed it. Or is it a question of upgrading the front breaks or the rear breaks, which seems to be being done on the reading above? Can anyone help? thanks Charlie. |
