Dan,

Only just read your post properly
Re: Secondly ...
Please maintain the healthy cynicism - it keeps 'em on their toes. The issue with rip-off dealers is, I believe, essentially due to three things (probably in descening order)
1. Reflection of the general attitude to (lack) of service endemic in this country. Customer care is very low on most organisations list of priorities at corporate and ground levels
2. Greed and laziness on the part of the dealers/fitters - you're right that there's not much money in selling cars these days and dealers have to make money through servicing etc. I used to work in a cr&p garage as a fitter in my youth. There's more money to be made fitting new parts in the hope they work rather than thinking about the symptoms etc and doing it right - I didn't stay long ...
3. Car design/manufacture is far more modular these days - more focus on cheap assembly means bigger supplier sub-assemblies and hence higher replacement costs down the line ...

As for specs/insiders etc ... most manfs don't knowingly sell bad products ... they have a reputation to maintain

My cat says that too but when asked says "Its the sound of one paw clapping ... ", but I think she's taking the pi$$

Cheers for that Dr D.

At least you can pour some healthy and accurate info into these here threads so we know what the real score is.

Funny things cats aren't they? They have got us right where they want us.
Funny thing is, we think we own them......only it is probably the other way round.. ;-)

The oil level on my T4 appears to be remaining static.

I do hope it stays that way. I will check again tomorrow.

If it is still OK I will be very happy.

Cheers,
Dan.
