Default Active 4C & Active headlight faults

I have an S80 2.4D SE Lux 2009 and it is showing two faults on the dash.

Headlamp service required, it has the active bending headlamps, they don't turn with the steering anymore, but they do go through the calibration when the vehicle is first started in that they go up then down then settle into their correct position.

Secondly it also has the 4c suspension and is showing the active chassis service required. The three switches on the centre console do nothing when pressed, it is currently stuck in the comfort mode, which is our normal setting.

I have disconnected the small drop links on the rear suspension sensor and they move freely. A friend of mine put his Snap On code reader on it today and it came up with the following fault which can't be cleared.

U043A86 Invalid data received from suspension control module B. Bus signal/
Message failures; signal invalid.

Any ideas if the two faults are connected and how can I cure them.

You need to get a dealer or independent garage to hook the car up to Volvo diagnostics (VIDA).

Suspension wise, faults could be coming up due to a faulty solenoid (or solenoids) on the shock absorbers. You may have a wiring issue, or maybe one or more than one the shock absorbers has packed in. 4c shock absorbers aren't cheap.

Volvo diagnostics is your best bet, otherwise its guesswork.

The headlamps rely on the same level sensors that the 4C uses (i.e. the sensors those small drop links operate). Its sounds like one of the level sensors may be faulty, but first check the electrical connectors to each one - check they are secure and not corroded.

I would suggest so. The canbus signal circuit for headlights and suspension will be interwoven and a rogue signal from component or wiring failure has disabled the system. It's surprising what disruption a corrupt signal can cause.

You also have a level sensor at the front o/s of the car. This is subject to plenty of water and needs keeping clean and doesn't need any jet washer hero's squirting it with water.
A typical sub symptom will be that whilst level your headlights will be off centre making your car look like cross eyed Clarence the Lion

Don't forget there is this unit under the nearside? headlight...

It's the headlamp level control unit. It can suffer from water ingress.

A friend had similar symptoms and it turned out to be the o/s front sensor but it needed us to go through the full fault diagnostic work through on Vida to get to it.
If we hadn't, much money would have been spent on parts not required.

Hi Folks
I thought I would update you on the faults with my S80. A friend of mine put his Vida machine on it and found that the fault was coming from the o/s/f suspension sensor. I have replaced it and everything is now back and fully functioning.

Thank you to those who have pointed me in the right direction.
Regards
Adrian

Does anyone have the part number for this sensor?

After some contortions I managed to get a pic of the old sensor part number.
Front right, 8G9N3C097AA but there does not seem to be any on ebay or anywhere else.
Does anyone know the difference between this and a 6G9N3C097AD?? Looks very similar and there are a few of them up for sale.
Thanks
