Well, I very much doubt you paid £3500 for your "service" now did you? But then again, I guess even if you had, you obviously would have been very 'understanding' about the matter and never pursued it.....I really give up.

Who, me?

Nah. VT have remapped my car and they provided me with a very up front and straightforward service. Aside from that, they've not done any other work on my car.

Stuart at SW Autos looks after our Volvos, and I will praise him equally, if not more - very up front, prepared to go that extra length and very reasonable charges.

Just don't understand the campaign against VT because one or two people aren't too happy with their service. But hey, I've not kept up with the subject for a while - and neither do I really want to!

I paid about 1000 for the service, including cambelt changes and lots of ancillary work.

I then paid them 2000 for a new fitted engine.

Maybe the map / work had something to do with the engine failure, maybe it didn't - all I stated was engines can let go at any time, standard or modified. Whilst I'm sure VT might have handled the situation better from a customer service standpoint, surely the chap didn't expect their engine replaced FOC if it couldn't be proved it was down to the map that caused the problem? Doubt many other garages would do that??

Yes, that is all well and good, but do you think that mapping a tuned car to run at Lambda 1 at full load on the road is safe for the engine? What other evidence do you need, in addition to an admission by the tuner himself, and data logs from a similarly tuned car which show that the ECU was maintaining lambda 1 at full load, to suggest that it could be more down to a questionable map than pure chance (e.g. "just happening")??

And I'm sure RICA pulled their distributorship and dealership from VT/HLM/Chiptuning

Due to the fact that they provided excellent service, excellent backup and did an excellent job of tuning vehicles didn't they

Seems like an wise business choice for RICA to have pulled that from such an excellent company doing such an excellent job for them doesn't it.... doh!

OR

Is it more down to the fact that RICA clearly think/know something is very amiss in Bromsgrove.

Make you choices people (its a difficult one!) ....

My T5 engine had the same problem by running lean at full boost doing 140mph down the autobahn, having been pushed hard for the previous few miles at 130-150mph. That is on a standard map, never having been anywhere near a tuning company.

I've no doubt that in all probability that the map may have contributed, if not caused the issue in this instance... but if it can happen with a standard car... etc?

Just because an engine has a fault doesn't mean to say you have to tune that fault into a perfectly good one does it?
