XC90 2016 Towbar recommendations
Hi, newbee to the forum.
I am on my third XC90 and recently purchased a 2016 Powerpulse Momentum, I am looking for an after market detachable towbar with 7 pin electrics (to tow large trailer). I have seen on Ebay a company called TowEquippe based in Oswestry supply one in kit form for £106.74 which seems remarkably cheap compared to others. Detachable Towbar + 7 pin Bypass Relay for Volvo XC90 4WD 2015+ 44020/C_UKA1 Has anyone had experience of TowEqippe or their products. Or could you recommend a supplier/installer Many thanks in advance. |

I would make sure any towbar fitted has a towball weight as recommended by volvo, some companies are slightly less sometimes. As you plan on towing a large trailer I would recommend the volvo dedicated electrical kit. It has more benefits, it adjusts abs etc to prevent snaking, turns off reverse sensors, uses the built in bulb checking system to let you know which trailor bulb is out and may more benefits. Volvo web page or dealer will advise you of all benefits. It would need programming in at volvo or a company who has the equipment to do it.

Towequippe have been around for some years and seem to be selling Italian made towbars of a brand rarely seen in the UK. The big difference between towbar brands is the way their detachable mechanism works. Some have an easy to use rotating knob with built in keylock. Others have a poorly designed, hard to use rotating knob. And some of the cheapest have some sort of metal peg inserted with a spring clip on the end to hold it all in place.
Look at how the mechanism works and ideally try one out. Westfalia are my favourite. TowTrust and Brink are also very good. Quality of fitting instructions also varies. A 7 way bypass relay is rather crude for a 2016 Volvo - a bit like using an old TV as a monitor for your computer - it'll work... in a basic way. |
