Default V50 1.6D 2011 bleeding fuel filter

Help needed to bleed fuel filter.

Have just changed the fuel filter without any major incident. However, cannot seem to bleed the air out to restart engine.

Haynes workshop manual not very clear about which pipe etc to connect hand pump to. Have also tried turning engine over with various connections undone but to no avail. No fuel obviouse anywhere.

2011 1.6 diesel.

Cheers

Matt

This is pretty easy in a garage , , you separate the red fuel line connector on top the engine the other side to the filter and blow air down the female connector which goes back to the tank . The air pressure in the tank will force fuel to flow through the filter , when a strong flow of fuel comes out of the male connector , quickly press them together again . I large absorbent cloth under the male connector will catch any escaping fuel .

If you have the 1.6 8v engine, this might help

I have just replaced my diesel filter by filling the new filter with diesel with a syringe before removing the old one, engine started up as normal after replacement, hope this helps next time you have to fit one. Peter
