Default Lights

It does sound like something is amiss but I'm unsure as to what exactly as I'm a novice owner and still getting to know the car. I can only describe how my lights operate. I have a C70 & a 3 position switch on the dash. Position 0, dipped beam comes on when I start up. This I believe to be the daytime running lights (DRL) but I can't put main beam on permanently, only to flash using the left indicator arm. The middle position changes the lights to side lights. The top position, dipped beam symbol puts the dipped headlights on. Main beam can then be operated with the left indicator arm, moving the arm fully towards yourself, just slightly only operates flash. Position 0 and the top position both switch off when the engine is switched off but the middle position (side lights) will leave the side lights on, exiting the vehicle does not cause a warning that these lights are on and using battery power. Sorry to be so long winded but I hope this info. helps somehow.
