If you haven't replaced the lug on the earth strap under the starter motor yet it's probably not far off needing doing. The cable strands tend to clean break with little or no corrosion. The original lug is good enough for a second bite and the cable is long enough to lose an inch.
It sounds like low cranking speed.

noop... its cranking quite well... its like only 1 injector is firing until the rest catch up to me, but i will have a look at the lug tho !

More likely to be one injector leaking and the rest suffering as a result.
Leak back test would be well in order for a car of that vintage. This would generally happen only when cold i.e. first start of the day.

well chaps... i finally got down to the problem starting and it turned out to be the actual starter motor!..

i stripped it down completely and found the bushes to be in top condition after a clean up.. then i stripped as much as i could to clean the solenoid and gave it a good blast with brake cleaner and VOILA!.. its turning over perfectly.

what i think the problem was.. was the solenoid contacts were ****ted up and needed a clean... ideally, it would of been better to split the solenoid open, but it was crimped shut so i didnt bother.. and what was happening was the solenoid was engaging then loosing contact for a split second and shutting the starter down, then instantly starting it up again and so on...

so now after a good clean, its firing up a treat!

cheers

Al.

How many compressions is it taking to start? 3-4?
If there is some other issue, long cranking can fry starters.
