Default Reverse Parking Sensors

Hi,

Purchased an '07 V50 last month and was told the sensors were working intermittently. However they haven't worked once since driving the car. Was wondering if there is a reset type function? The dash lcd says the sensors are on when I go into reverse but there is no alert noise.

I know some cars have fail safes like leaving in reverse for a minute to reset....wanted to check before getting replacements fitted.

Thanks for any help/advice.

You should probably check if there is any stored error codes with ViDA. Could be just be the connector for one of the sensors that needs attention.

The sensors are a swine for dying as they get to 6+ years old. To make no beeps at all and also no error messages is a bit odd though. If you can (and you're brave enough) get someone to put the car in reverse (clutch down or foot on the brake if it's an auto) and put your ear to each sensor in turn. If they are working you can hear a faint click click click noise from them. If one isn't clicking you have a duff sensor, if none are clicking then there is probably some other fault.

Thanks, will get the kids to check after school, the snow drift will help with any accidental impact. ;-)

On a manual car you can do it without assistance, the sensors will work (or not) with the engine off but ignition in position II, just put it into reverse.

Even if the system is deactivated on the central console, the sensors should still click - it just won't beep for proximity. If it is activated and beeping like it should, you'll be able to hear it from outside the car even with the doors closed, it's not exactly subtle!

One of mine played up for several weeks once when it got waterlogged, solid beep every time I went into reverse for several weeks until it dried out again.

if you connect vida it will even tell you which one/s is/are faulty. they are numbered from left to right if you are stood behind the car ie no. 1 is on the passenger side and no. 4 is on the drivers side. They come unpainted and will need to be calibrated with vida once fitted to the car. There is a ecm burried on the right inside the boot under all the trim. If the ecm is faulty then be aware the new one will need software.
