Default 940 se emissions

Hi New here. I have a problem with my 940 se turbo b200ft . The car can run fine for weeks then when pulling away you will get smoke from the exhaust if you give the care some hard reving it will normally clear after a couple of minutes but that is not practical to do arround town roads. At the cars last mot it failed on the smoking but passed the following day as the fault had dissapeared. The emmision test showed it as within limits even when smoking. A collegu stated it could be a dodgy lambda sensor. What would your opinions be ?. Any advice would be most welcome. The car is fantastic appart from this fault.
