Spoke with KG Trimning on the alloy covers.
Although they are interested they have plenty of stock so no interest in the short term. I've asked a casting company we use for a budgetary cost to produce 25 units and a cost break out of the Non Recurring Cost. He did whistle thru his teeth; but I expected that Will let you all know when I hear something Russ |

I said I had one in the garage, 'ere 'tis.
NEC said he had a Nordic one which I think maybe one with the word NORDiC in smallish letters cast into the centre section. There are several covers with this small scale lettering and I think they may all have originated in the same foundry using interchangeable plates for the castings. The castings also look to have a coarse sand finish. Interestingly this one has a steel insert in the oil filler hole to take the standard Volvo filler. I think that without it the alloy is likely to damage easily when you use the cap. I've not seen this insert though on other alloy covers. Mind you, this mod tends to allow oil to seep out between the insert and the cover. That's why it was taken off the last engine it was on but a good sealant should solve that problem. I posted this on the end of a post to Brickboard about Ruddspeed back in '08. "At the same time, just a few miles away in Brighton, T.H.Shaddick were also offering tuning equipment for the B18 under the "Nordic" name. Some would say that they were better tuners and their range of kit was also better than Rudds. For example, they offered 4 different cams." I have their price list, sent to me at the time (Jan '68 !), which says the cast valve covers were £5.10.00. The answer to the inevitable question is "NO". |

Right had a update re the cast covers
Spoke with a casting company and a mould could be made from a good cover. However they would prefer to make a pattern as the quality would be better. As for everything it's economies of scale so the more covers bought so he non recurring element(design, mould production) can be amortised over more units these are budgetary prices but I would expect them to be close. 1-10 £550 each 10-20 £500 ea 20-50 £450 ea This of course takes into account all the covers are the same, that is the logo we all collectively decide on. I'm thinking this maybe not a goer especially as we had a number of opinions regarding logos. Anyway food for thought! Russ |

Thanks Russ but I couldn't justify spending that much on a valve cover.

Maybe if it came with and engine attached to it?
Well, I've been bitten by the bug now - I hope I can find something interesting.
