Well Roy, that's a good deal there and so I have booked marked it for future reference.

However, I have secured a better deal ⛽️

My dealer threw in a five year service pack as a freebie. The pack includes unlimited top ups of AdBlu at any Jaguar dealership! Neat.

The service pack also includes a contribution of up to £750 per MOT as required at years 4 & 5. Although I see that the UK Government has plans to make the first MOT test at four years rather than three?

So I will buy a 5l can of the stuff for my pan-euro hols. Just in case. An unopened can in our boot should be safe enough.

Regards, Arianne

Perhaps Porsche will be immune but only by restricting production. If you can wait, perhaps you should. Even PCP buyers won't be unaffected since residual values will fall leaving no equity from GMFV.
I drove a V6 F-Pace at Millbrook last year having just done exactly the same test drive in a manual 'box XC60 D5. New to the market, the other car being phased out, I was shocked at the difference between the two and wouldn't have given a thank you for the F-Pace in comparison with the XC60.

The XC60 (an R-Design) felt more alert, more powerful (yes with one cylinder less and a shortfall in BHP too!) and very much more comfortable too.

I have never,. since the FWD diesel X-type - driven a Jaguar that so disappointed, that or the XC60 is a much finer car than even we would give it credit for. Wouldn't consider the X3, but it would be interesting to try a Macan - I actually like the look of it, but suspect that, all round, I would still prefer the XC60!

I parked next to an F Pace this morning and have to say that I feel that the shape of it is dating already. When I test drove one several months ago I thought it looked ok but the 2.0d was woeful compared to my D5. Now I really have gone off the looks and would not consider one even if they upped the power of the lower priced diesels. The Porsche is too expensive so for me my next car will probably be between the new XC60 and new VW Touareg as both will have good discounts 12-18 months after launch.

Shows how subjective both the driving experience and looks are. There is nothing positive about a D5 XC60 performance compared to a V6 F-Pace, IMHO!

But the Touareg is really in the 'next size up'. 'More affordable' X5 / GLE / Q7 territory.

I have driven an XC60 R-design D5. It's a nice car but it's way off compared to a 3.0d V6 S F-Pace with the auto ZF box. Period.

Oh well, pays your money and takes your choice, it's what makes the world an interesting place!

Drove the son in laws again at the weekend - 2.0d unfortuantely. Didnt do anything at all for me. They are also having gremlins with the infotainment unit.

I am sure yours will be much different with the nicer engine and I hope that you dont get the issues they are experiencing with the sound and phone system. I do know that my daughter would happily have the GLC back that they had temporarily whilst waiting for it to be delivered.

Yes I would have expected the F-Pace to be a huge advance on the XC60, maybe the early production Jaguar UK demo I drove was below par, it certainly seemed slow to respond to the throttle compared to the manual D5, even more so my Polestarred D4, also a manual.

The decider for me though was the handling, the R-Design which many have criticised as being too stiff, just suits the Alpine course at Millbrook far better than the F-Pace which felt soft and floppy by comparison.

On motorways and A roads I'm sure the rolls are probably reversed, although having come to the XC60 from a Subaru Legacy - which had a superb long distance ride quality, it did take a while to come to terms with the Volvo's firm ride especially around town.

The Jaguar people weren't over surprised when I reported disappointment, especially in comparison to their own Range Rover Sport, with a touch of irony they explained that the Jaguar could have been made as good but then no-one would want to pay another £20K for the RR!

incidentally I also found the new Ingenium diesel disappointing in anything larger than an XE, both Discovery Sport and Evoque felt underpowered with automatic boxes. The old 2.2 wasn't the most refined unit in the world but it felt powerful enough in all the cars they put it in, the XF Tourer being particularly nice.

Although from the next size up the space in the current Touareg is very similar to the XC60 and I can actually cram more in the boot of the XC60 than my previous Touareg. Also with the discounts, prices are pretty similar as well. I would actually like a slightly bigger SUV and had a new XC90 last year but didn't get on with it.

I'm assuming both the new XC60 and Touareg will follow the trend of growing in size so when I come to swap in around 2 years time see those 2 as the most likely contenders. I think the situation in 2 years time regarding diesels may have a strong influence as I love the VAG 3.0 V6 tdi but may have to look at a hybrid instead if the government start penalising diesels.
