Looks like you have 16" Mimas wheels, bigger wheels and lower profile tyres will give a firmer ride, something to be aware of on our pothole ridden roads

thats what i want it feels to wallowy (well more than wallowy v70s already are)

a firmer ride is what im after

i imagine the bolt pattern and limitations of the arch restrict what i have but i also want it to look mint not poo!

larger wheels also rub on the inner arch and increase turning circle, adjust turn stops to suit, it's a known V70 issue, hope you like doing 12 point turns lol

the ride on these cars can be very crashy and bumpy at the best of times (or maybe the roads near me are worse than anywhere else, quite possible) I definitely wound't go any stiffer or harsher personally (I'm on the 16s as well)

I've recently fitted 16" Mimas with winter tyres and it doesn't feel 'wallowy' at all. No it doesn't corner as well as when on the lower profile 17" Thor wheels & tyres but it's also not as harsh when hitting potholes

The tyre circumference of the 16" and 17" are almost the same so only the sidewall height and tyre width are different

Mimas

Has your spannerman given it a coat of looking at yet? Maybe save your beer tokens until he has - cosmetic stuff can come later!

Good decision! Incidentally, on another non-Volvo forum I belong to there have been some owners swapping 17" wheels with low profile tyres for 16" wheels with higher profiles to soften the harsh ride. I've considered it myself (not on the V70) but my annual mileage hardly warrants it.

a lot of people experience a crashey ride because there on worn out springs are not supporting the car and the suspension travel is limited to about half of what it should be try jacking up your car to see how high it is before it shows any wheel lift off the floor some sag in the spring is acceptable but most are way past there best if on high mileage.this symptom an be hard on control arm bushings aswell
