Default hiss of air on brake release

I piggybacked onto someone else's thread about noises when braking, but I am not convinced that the symptoms being responded to were the same as mine. Predominantly when cold, when I brake and then take my foot off the pedal, there is a hiss. As I say, on a good run this will go away, but is evident when cold. The response given was expensive. the braking capability is not reduced when this is happening. Any thoughts?

thanks

Mine was the same it only happend when you took your foot off the pedal, but it was still the brake servo and yes it is expensive.

You can live with it for a while but if it gets to bad then the braking assistant will reduce and can stall at ideal.

Forgot to add thet the cause of the servo going was the master cylinder leaking, another £150 on top of the £350 for the servo and 3 - 3.5 hours labour.

I had the master cylinder on my S60 replaced yesterday at a volvo garage, cost on my bill says £124.50 (parts only + £87.50 labour + brake fluid £8.90) (also had to have the clutch position sensor changed as fluid had leaked on to it!)
