I recall that the author of the guide mentioned that half the time was spent "marvelling at how well everything was put together".

Lots of manufacturers over the years used that pus
Been digging it out of my face for decades
I put this stuff from the rubber shop.

See how Ive cut the foam so the join stays under pressure.
Now the wind rushes up, bulging the windscreen
and pushes me into the back seat with eyes like a Chinaman
or someone sticking their head out the sunroof at speed.

Default Air ducts

When set to windscreen demist I have a moderate flow of air coming from the centre of the windscreen vent outlet, but virtually none at either side. I haven't noticed a reduction in the amount of air noise, though, since it was working properly. Having read this thread (and a few others) I'm guessing a duct has disconnected or a seal has gone, so most of the air is going elsewhere.
I've been trying without success to find a parts diagram for the vents and ducts so I know what to expect. Does such a thing exist? I'd like to understand the routing of the ducts and, in particular, how many connections there are to the windscreen vent(s): is it just a single duct to the centre or are there several?
Also, if I take out the heater control unit will I be able to see anything useful (so I can check what's going on before launching into removing the dash)?

The screen de-mist ducts and the face level ducts are all attached to the dashboard. The heater box and the floor ducting is attached to the car. There is a join between the two that comes apart when the dash is removed. The only way to get to the ducts is to remove the dash - it is designed to come out for repairs and maintenance so quite straightforward. It took me about two hours to remove mine. Three hours to put back in
