Default S80 wing mirror wandering!

The near-side wing mirror (the glass) on my S80 has started to move randomly as io drive. It does not appear to be loose (as in hanging off) but does seem to have a life of it's own re which direction it is pointing, which is distracting when driving.

Has anyone else had this or know what it might be??

Thanks

Out of interest, does it only move in one axis or does it move in both? There are two motors powering it, vertical and horizontal aqxis and you may be able to start to narrow down the area for the fault.

My passenger mirror used to wobble all over the place in the wind & on uneven/bumpy roads - It was very distracting indeed.

I got a local Volvo specialist to have a look at it for me when the car went in for a service. He took the glass off, removed the electrical connectors & basically the backing plate/material was weathered away, so the glass wasn't really stuck to anything as such - I'm surprised it stayed on for as long as it did! He applied some sort of adhesive to the backing plate/material, let it dry & its never moved whilst driving since.

Yours is probably the same

Have taken a look, and the glass simply feel off in my hand! Cleaned the glass and it's holder, applied some glue and the problem is fixed. Thanks!

I hope that the fault is as perceived by Kev and that it is the mirror coming loose from its base and is easily stuck back with adhesive. But your description of the fault didn't speak of jiggling or wobbling. You clearly said that the mirror moved of its own accord which would imply that the motors were driving it without you commanding it to move which may not be such an easy fix. Now which is it?
