Passenger door will not lock or unlock when using the remote or the key, even turning the key twice in the drivers lock the passenger door will not lock or unlock, using the interior lock button on either the passenger or drivers side will still not lock or unlock the door, if you push the button on the door down manually it will lock but you have to pull the door handle to open it again.
Any advice? Will be greatly appreciated.

It may be an iffy, or sticky mechanism.

Getting the lock out to check it/work on it can be a bit of a PITA.

A "How to" here... https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=276166

But, it could also be a duff wire or connection somewhere. And that could be harder to find.

Thanks christheancient
I have removed the door panel to see what the job entails removing the lock and a PITA is a understatement to say the least, it looks to me that the whole workings within the door needs to be removed, windows, regulator etc unless somebody knows different?

Well, add on to the above, with door panel in situ (I find removing the panel a very daunting task) I thoroughly sprayed the lock with electrical spray, spraying in all the nooks and crannies and any holes I could find using the extended nozzle and hay presto its now working fine (for how long I don't know). While I was there I sprayed down through the window and door panel with silicone spray because the windows were getting very slow and now they seem to be working fine.

It helps if one has universal joints instead of knuckles in the fingers! That way, it is possible to do the job without taking too many parts out.

Hello christheancient
Even with universal jonts and hands and arms the size of a 5 year old I still cant see how it can be done without stripping the whole door out and that for me is way above my pay grade.
