Default Retro-fit Adaptive Crusie Control

I've got a 2010 SE Lux and I am very happy with but does anyone know if it is possible to retro fit adaptive cruise control? I keep finding myself rueing my decision not to get the drivers pack when I am constantly flipping the cruise control on and off on our busy UK roads. I'm not so bothered about the lane assist and the collision warning - I already have BLIS which I think works very well.

I would be very suprised if it could be retrofitted as it uses both camera and radar: the camera being built into the screen (near the city saftey laser) and the radar being in the front grill.

I specified the driver support pack, mainly because I wanted adaptive cruise and the full pack was not vastly more expensive as a combined bundle on the R-design. Having used adaptive cruise on previous cars (never my own) I felt I would regret not having it on the XC60: only had for a week but so far its living up to expectations.

Theoretically it should be possible to retrofit everything since you can buy separately every bit and piece of the car as spare/replacement parts (well, perhaps with the exception of the whole chassis). This is what you would do in order to fix up a car after an accident. What is more - the parts do not need even be thoroughly new. The car smiths in Poland, for example, are able to fix up a car which was delivered in several pieces, possibly together with a smashed bus stop shelter. Or even better - they can make one good car out of several wreckages (not necessarily the same brand, LOL). At least it was like that several years ago.

Personally, after having my XC60 for almost 7 months, I could be interested in retrofitting a second turbocharger, a haldex and a high performance sound system. I'm sure it is possible but I'm not sure whether I would like to see the price.

BTW, I'm not sure whether the adaptive cruise control needs the camera. I'm almost sure that the camera is only for the lane warning system. I suspect that to fit the ACC you will need to buy and install the equipment connected to the fuses no.5&19 in the fuse box B under the dashboard, to install some software and then to calibrate the machinery. Am I wrong?

You are correct, Adaptive cruise does not require the camera, its needed for collision warning with auto brake, lane departure and driver allert

IMO, collision warning with auto brake is the same device as the adaptive cruise control. The software, in cruise control mode, will measure the distance and control gently both the accelerator and the brakes. In auto-brake mode, it measures the distance and will warn you, eventually using its heavy electronic foot on the brake pedal.

I will try to make a small experiment tomorrow - I will obscure the camera with a sticker and will see what happens with the ACC.

Don't worry. I will try the ACC so I will need to follow another car. Anyway, I suspect I will get a service message immediately after the camera is disabled.
