Suggested changes to my order?
I've got about 24 hours to modify my order (at least that is what the dealer is telling me). So far, I am staying with a 3.2 FWD, ice white with soft beige/espresso interior, premium package, convenience package and the climate package. I am passing on the Volvo navigation system as portable Garmin systems are fine with me.
Any suggestions for things I "need" to add to my car before the change cut off time passes? Frosty56 |

I appear to be in the minority, but I love my sun/moonroof.

I would suggest that you get a D5 diesel, if possible. You could be the first kid in your street to get one.
My current XC60 is the first diesel I have owned and it is brilliant. Plenty of get-up-and-go and very economical. VW have had a diesel option in the US for some time. Seeing that you are picking it up, it may be possible?

I wish we could get the diesel here in the states, but unfortunately, our diesel choices are very limited. Off the top of my head, the only diesels I can think of, which are available to us are the BMW 335d; Mercedes E350; Mercedes ML350; the VW diesels and I think that is it--a pretty pathetically small range of diesel cars to choose from.

I agree with WIMorrison. I only have them at the rear and when car is in for QAI am having them fitted. Its been too close for comfort on too many occasions!

Great suggestions, thanks. I think the parking sensors are worthwhile. I am getting BLIS, but I am not sure if it is really worth $700.00.
My family names their cars (why, I don't know, but we have always done so). The Outback is "Otis" the Impreza is "Jonathan" the Mercedes is "Marvin" and my XC60 will be "Frosty" - Ice white in color and from Sweden, thus my board name. Frosty will have the parking sensors; leather; sun roof; BLIS; heated seats front and rear; rain sensor; rear hatch cover (?), tinted rear windows; headlight washers (This seems a bit frivolous for North Carolina); heated wind shield washer fluid; and I think that is about it. It has the base stereo. I am pretty tone deaf and not musically inclined, so I don't think the optional sound system is worth it to me. The other things I am on the fence over are the lane system and the front crash avoidance system. They come in a package which is about $1,850.00--Do you think they are worth the money? I suppose avoiding even one collision would justify the price. Frosty56 |

BLIS is ok, not sure i'd pay $700 for it (do you get electric folding mirrors as part of BLIS, i can't remember but they're pretty handy!)... I only spec'ed it as it came with free 'family pack' (booster seats and power child locks) in the UK.

I didn't get BLIS and have not actually used it, but I honestly cannot see the use of it that a quick glance over the shoulder would not solve.
As for the front and rear sensors I'm not sure I would suggest these are essential either but they are a better addition than BLIS IMHO but don't go blindly accepting that just because the beep is a solid tone that you have 12" of space left. If you have leather seats the heated are essential. The PCC is a nice addition I got it as part of the security pack that included laminated glass. One thing I have found invaluble again came in the same security pack is the water repellant front windows. With the crappy, murky weather that we have here in blighty they are always clean and give a good view of the rear view mirror. |
