Why would you need this upgrade? The current D5 has plenty of power and torque.

Presumably Volvo have tuned the engine for best performance/life possible. Anything else may risk breakdown. The extra power may overstress engine and drive train components. Extra power generates extra heat, perhaps also leading to failures.

I agree with the comments that it may compromise the Volvo warranty and insurance claims. Why risk it?

I just stumbled upon this link andjust wondered what the pro's (and mainly cons by the sound of it) were thats all.

Like all things you get what you pay for and judging by the responses this is a cheap and unreliable alternative to a re-map.

This thread may overlap the age of owners thread. Possibly the younger members may have more interest in power upgrades than the older.

There is no harm debating such topics and individuals may be better informed before deciding to act or not. My previous comments were flippant and rhetorical. The serious advice would probably be to consider the Volvo approved upgrade, if you need it. It is doubtful that a cheap black box bought unproven on ebay would satisfy everybody.

If you get one, remember to notify your insurance company and be prepared to pay extra for insurance.

I agree, wait till the thing is out of warranty before you start playing with fire. Good advice from the land of the Rundle Mall!

Clearly it is a point of interest in our city, right up there with York Cathedral.

It is a strip shopping precinct that should be bulldozed. However, our city fathers are stuck in a time warp and believe that 1910 was the optimum period for city development.

Much better is remapping your existing fuelling system and ECU, which funny enough is a service Volvo do offer. yes it's more expensive but it is covered under warranty!
Wise Words!!!!!!

The above is absolutely correct
