That's interesting, I had problems with mine after .net updated. Had to uninstall and revert to 3.5 to get the dice to work again.

That's one way of doing it but everything will work with an up to date .Net Framework just by applying the registry fix.
The fix is quicker than uninstalling updates too.

I'm lucky in that I had an old laptop lying around that I could use solely for VIDA / DICE. Once I finally got it working (Win Pro 7 32 Bit, .Net 3.5), I turned off windows update, so that its configuration wouldn't change. I assume that as long as I don't change my car for a newer one, there is no benefit to an upgraded VIDA version (I'm on 2014D), or any further windows updates.

Well here's hoping at least!

That's exactly what I have done so hopefully nothing should alter and the laptop is not used for anything else at all.

Does it have to be Win 7 pro version or will the home version cut the mustard?

The issue I had installing 2014D on a VM was I hadn't installed support for USB2 so the driver didn't see the dice properly.
I used 32bit Win7 Ultimate.
It all works now.
My only issue is my car battery running out being left on pos II for a length of time!

Joe it must be Win 7 Pro ( or ultimate).

If you have a look on Ebay you will see a dealer selling loads of used Laptops with Win7 pro installed being knocked out for around £60.

I bought one and then a new £70 Dice. All up and running now.

It won't work on 7 Home so if you have a laptop and software is all you need, I bought 7 Pro for £19 from this site.
They send you links to download the operating system and a program to make a bootable DVD or USB stick.
