Cheers for the replies, I've got another 1L carton so if I put in another 0.4 that should be ok?

Does anyone know if its possible to get a replacement dipstick from somewhere apart from a scrappy?

Sold the one I had the other day. Try breakers or ebay. Also try calling Rufe or your local dealer, as I don't think they charge that much for it

Just to update this, the D4192T and D4192T2 engine have a different fuel filter design. This method is not correct for them. Which is unfortunate because this method is FAR better. The earlier engines method is almost the same as removing an oil filter. The fuel filter screws off from underneath. I tried last night with an oil filter belt wrench, but it was jammed solid, so I need to get the Volvo tool to remove the fuel filter. What a pain in the ass. So tempted to sell my D4192T2 V40 and get a PH2. Nothing is simple on it. Seems Volvo changed a few things for the better on the newer revised engine.

Is it possible do someone to place this guide in the "x40 S1 Articles"?

Also, does anyone know the specific tightening torque for the oil filter and oil drain plug?

Thanks!

This is what VIDA has to say:

Install the oil drain plug
Replace the O-ring on the drain plug.
Tighten to 20 Nm.

Installing the new oil filter
Brush oil on the gasket.
Screw in the oil filter by hand until the gasket comes into contact with the gasket surface.
Then tighten a further 1/2 - 3/4 turn.

Nice Guide, just having a go at both right now. 2 questions though...

Is there a particular socket for the sump?

and where under the fuel filter cap does the spring go? When I took it off, it was just sat there, not seemingly doing anything??

The sump is an 8mm square bit, and you can throw the spring away if you want. The car will run fine without it. Or alternatively you can place it in the correct hole in the filter cap. It presses down on top of the filter, but doesn't seem to do much else.

When I unscrew the fuse box I can't move it out of the way sufficiently to gain access to the fuel filter. What is the best way to move it out of the way without damaging the fuse box? Thank you.

It's not the best access but you should just be able to pull it out the way.
