Default What is this ?

Its a switch mounted on the nearside rear antiroll bar mounting bracket, with its operating arm connected to the lower suspension arm ?
For some reason the photo has turned 90 degrees anticlockwise ?

My car has a similar sensor for lights and stability control, it maybe similar on your car?

It's the self levelling for factory fitted Bi-zenons or could be stability control if it is a T4.

That's it, it must be for the factory fitted Bi-zenons.
So how does it effect the headlights, presume if the car is low at the back it must auto lower the head light beam ?

Spot on. When you turn on the ignition the suspension sensor adjusts the headlights to compensate for any load in the car. This is the reason retro fitted bi-zenons - even if genuine Volvo - are never totally legal unless the self levelling is fitted as well. No one ever bothers as it is too big a job to do - removing and refitting the wiring loom.

My car is the opposite way. It did have xenons from the factory but it doesn't now. They had already gone when I bought it and I decided they weren't worth the cost.

When I fitted my whiteline rear anti roll bar there was nowhere for that plug to go so its just taped up and tucked up out of the way. Doesn't effect anything.
