Default Using the ppc code reader with MSA15.8

Hi, I have now used a ppc code reader on my 2000 W reg V70 Tdi classic (P1) with the D5252T engine and Bosch MSA 15.8. I have found the following:

1. It does not appear to read SRS module DTCs - my SRS light is on and an airbag fault was indicated by a dealer scan (with a VCT2000) some time back. The ppc appears to poll the SRS module but finds no DTC. Has anyone else found this problem?

2. The ppc reads the ECM module. Again, I have a known egr DTC from a previous dealer scan which is ECM0038. This relates to egr flow level, HOWEVER the bsr supplied code list gives 0038 as "rear HO2S bank 1 heating" i.e. the code is correct but the description is not.

It seems that some codes may be incorrectly described via the bsr ppc info so it's best to cross-reference the code with the VADIS code definitions (of course you need VADIS).

I'd be interested in comments from those of you who've used a ppc scanner on my engine with MSA15.8. Regards.
