It's possible you don't have one Phil, i know back in the early 90s most manufacturers were doing everything they could to minimise things people could fiddle with so it's possible they removed it on certain models.

I'll try and get a photo of mine tomorrow to show you what you're missing so to speak.

Thing is, if you ain't got one then you ain't got one, simple as that sadly. Just leave that step out of the procedure and you should be fine.

That would be amazing if poss, thankyou-if it’s not there I’ll do as you suggested and carry on minus the air bleed screw step!

Another day of progress-changed the centre box of the exhaust, so now everything behind the cat has been changed and is nice and fresh. Ran it up and made sure everything sealed well when warm, job done! It sounds a lot sweeter with the new exhaust, both the centre and back box were full of disintegrating baffle detritus and rust so were well overdue a change.

I also changed the underbody fuel pump as the old one was noisy. The new one is quieter but still noisier than it should be, so I think it’s time for a new in-tank unit too as a I suspected.

I’m not sure whether it’s the pump, new exhaust bits or a cumulative effect, but the car feels even sprightlier now-it’ll never be a contender in the stoplight Grand Prix, but it’s performing better than ever and has a respectable turn of speed. Gen 3 injectors next and the in-tank pump, rear shocks and i’ll be about ready to sign off on the mechanical side of things.

Oh...maybe a decat...and maybe new springs...and maybe an electrical fan conversion...and maybe I should just shut up and drive it!!

No worries and no hurry at all!!

The screen washer nozzles you recommended arrived today from PFV, popped them on and was very pleased with the results-so much better than the old bunged up units...I can see where I’m going now!!

The trick injectors have yet to arrive, but the car’s running like a peach without them so they can take their sweet time. I have a new tailpipe on the way too, I refitted the old one when I changed the back box, but it looks a little ratty so couldn’t resist picking up a new one when they’re only £7 from the ‘bay.

Glad you're pleased with the washer jets Phil - they're a good investment IMHO and seem to get the screen much cleaner than the old style "twin pencil jets" of water.

Finally got round to taking a shot of the Idle Air Bypass Screw on mine :

If you've got one, it's going to be somewhere near the throttle butterfly and it gives an idea what to look for. It won't be exactly the same as yours because the engine in mine is slightly different :

Almost the same injection system as yours except no Lambda or cat on mine.

Thanks Dave! Alas I definitely have no such screw...I’ll double check that it hasn’t broken off or been blanked but it’s definitely not there. Very interesting!

Some didn't have the screw Phil so if you can't see it fairly easily then it ain't there. Just skip that stage which means you've probably already done it all except for checking it's only 1/4 turn after the throttle butterfly stop screw just touches the lever.

It should sort itself out from there, especially if you remove fuse #1 (think it's #1) for the ECU memory to clear the faults.
