  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

I tested it, according to this YouTube-video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-Rz...l=TutoBuildEng - I did not get the starter motor or the solenoid to engage. I then did exactly the same test on the new starter with the results, seen in the video.

The new starter motor is a bit smaller, but turns the engine completely effortlessly and was relatively cheap (130$)

If your new starter was one of the later Permag types, did you have to alter/change/adapt the bolts? Don't hit Permag starters with a hammer. The field cores are bonded to the case, not bolted, and can come loose.

Yes, it's one of the newer and the reseller sent me two additional bolts with it, which were a bit different in size. No nuts were needed, as the starter motor holes were threaded. It was surprisingly easy to mount - 5 minutes and done.

Regarding the hammer trick, thanks for the advice.
