Default Airconditioning

The air con on my 2009 S40 has stopped working.

is it common on this model to stop?

is it normally just a recharge it needs or is there a common fault.

It is a known problem , 9 times out of 10 it is the condenser leaking ..
It is now illegal to " regas" a system unless the leak is fixed first . All people dealing with AC systems have to be assessed and registered , so they should know that anyway !

You'll be looking at about £100 for the condenser plus fitting and a regas.

You need to have the system checked out as it can be a number of things from a leaking pipe, dryer, compressor (expensive) or condenser. I wouldn't just go buying parts that you don't need, as Clan says though 9/10 it is the condenser (radiator looking thing at front of the car).
