I have a 59 plate C70 coupe cabriolet. I don't know whether it is phase one or two nor if it has had Botox when I wasn't looking.

Have a 2007 C70 myself and the lights are woeful.

Have a HIDS4U kit, although i decided to go with a 35W kit initially as i read/heard of problems with overheating etc.

Just took delivery of some additional H7 connectors as well so will be fitting them tomorrow. Was going to hold off until i got a new headlamp (two slight cracks in mine currently) but with the early nights i need more light!

Going to give them a go and if not good enough then will be upgrading to 55W.

Why? is this a known problem?
Had the drivers side headlamp replaced by the dealer i purchased from.
Now passengers side has gone as well although i thought its due to stones during motorway driving.

Have been looking for used replacement but cannot find one.
Have been quoted £300 for new so may have to stump up for that as our version of MOT is due soon.

Have Ventureshield protection kit ready to slap on once that''s replaced as i cannot afford that kind of money on headlamps every year.

Agreed: The lights are poor and I was surprised by this. I assumed that Volvo would be interested in all matters pertaining to safety of the driver and other road users. I decided not to waste my time and have gone for the 55w kit, which arrived today so I will fit it on Monday as I am busy with other matters right now.

I did ask my tame technician about fitting it and after a lot of coughing and spluttering, I was informed that there was a couple of hours labour involved! I have had a look at what appears to be a very well engineered kit and it appears to be supplied with all that is needed, with the exception of a 1 inch drill bit.

I have already had a good look under the bonnet for possible mounting points and there are bits of metal framework that will easily take the ballasts, just above the headlight assembly units. Given the relatively short length of cable attached, I think this will be an ideal mount point. I intend to take pictures of the process on Monday and will post them just as soon as the job is done.

As for labour time, I doubt that there is more than 30 minutes in total, start to finish. Once again, I will post details about my experience on Monday.

Yes there is a very common problem with the lights cracking and they are replaced under warranty.
