Default Retro fitting Info Centre switch

Hey all.....

More advice if you would all be so kind!!

I have got the centre part of the dash with the info centre switch in it, but on removing the 'old' part from my car, it seems I dont have the necessary cabling to allow me to fit it :-(

Also, there doesn't seem to be the wiring to disable the ultra sonic sensors in the car either....

Any help?

Thanks.

The wiring+connector for the ultra sonic sensors should be in all P2 cars. See if the previous owner tucked it somewhere deep inside. The info centre is a different story. If the connector is missing, then you will need to remove and replace the entire loom under the dashboard.

Its highly doubtful either of the previous owners would of done that, the first owner used the car for sales, and the 2nd was a 85 year old, and who I got the car from.

Will have a good dig about today when I put it back together as there is a big hole in the dash!

Weird thing is, I have the screen for the computer in the clocks, and I've seen the blanked out part so it 'seems' mine is ready for the switch, hope the wiring is there somewhere! Was hoping that all the cars came with all the wiring like in the 'good old days!'

Littlehomer thought the same, as well as me. You will find extra connectors in the engine bay for retrofitting fogs, headlight wipers, cruise control etc.

One way to be sure that you can have the Info Centre switch, is to check on your radiator to see if you have the ambient temperature sensor. It would be a great indicator to show if the car came with or without an info centre

Look into the gaping hole there that always concerns me through which you can see much of the bottom of the radiator. I'm 90% sure that the sensor is the little thing that I can see there clipped onto a metal bracket at the right-hand side (as you look at it; passenger side of the car) of the top edge of said hole - just behind the bumper edge.

Towbar - sorry can't help.

The car didn't come with the info centre, but it has the extra screen on the right hand side of the speedo cluster.

No wiring in the centre of the car, gutted I can't fit it easily. :-(

Got the ultrasonic disable switch working, but now the heater controls are only particually lit.

Seems the LED's have given up the ghost, any one any info on these? Anyone changed them?

They aren't LEDs they are bulbs. There is a thread knocking around here, I'll go find it.

I think they are LED's as if you put them in the wrong way, they don't light up where a lamp would.

Ordered some LED's of eBay which arrived in under 24hrs, will be fitting these asap.

You can fit LEDs but it seems they are not as bright as the bulbs purchased from Volvo. Have a read of that thread people discuss LEDs vs bulbs in there

I've bought some LED's after reading that thread, and after I found out how much the bulbs are at Volvo, the £2.19 I've spent to make the controls light up is fine...... Volvo wanted £6.60... a bulb!!!!!
