Bit late to this thread, but I notice that the procedure in VIDA for battery disconnection always shows the key in the slot and ignition set to stage I before disconnecting the battery. I assume this may be so that the presence of the key is registered and the alarm disabled before the battery is disconnected?

Newby here as well.

I need to park my V60 for about 3 months. Do I need to disconnect the battery in the boot and the start/stop battery in the engine bay? Will the alarm go off when I do so?

Thanks for any help

I don't think disconnecting battery for a long time is a good idea if you have VOC, as the voc module has a battery backup and disconnecting main battery will speed up the need for replacement.

Default Reviving an old thread - long term parking

Hi guys,

I found this thread while searching for an answer to same problem.

Ok, it's kinda a nice problem to have but.... It's a problem nonetheless...

I'm proud owner of a 2008 P3 xc70. I'll only be using it for a few months in summer. Then I park it in a garage (with no power or light for a solar charger) for circa 6months...

Previous cars, I simply disco'd the battery negative lead...

Terrified to do this with the XC for fear of battery going dead and or alarm annoying my neighbours...

Ideally, I'd like to disable alarm, park in gear (handbrake off and leave it unlocked, bonnet open with the battery terminal off.

Any ideas very gratefully received.
Mark
