Default XC60 D4 (163bhp) Buying Advice.

Hi all,

I am looking to purchase a XC60 for the wife. I have come across a few XC60 D4’s AWD on 63 plates in the net and was wondering what this engine is like, not driven one as yet but was looking for some thoughts from those who have owned/experienced this car in terms of reliability, running costs (although) probably only be doing 5-6k per year.

Thanks in advance

Purchased my XC60 D4 SE LUX NAV 163HP with a 2.4 engine back in January 2018 with 102k on the clock (registered Sept 2013) so 2014 spec I'm assuming ?

I've since covered approx 33k (135k) & found it to be a great engine & pulls like a train. Fuel consumption tends to be 42 - 45 mpg long runs on motorways & around 35 mpg locally on short runs.

As for repairs:
EGR & Check Valve - July 2018
Relay - July 2019
Tailgate Struts - April 2020
No1 Injector 2020
Front Offside Coil Spring - December 2020

I believe it to be money well spent, as it's a solid well built vehicle & I've no intention of replacing.

The only downside I've come across is that I've been told that the SATNAV maps cannot be updated unless an electronic component is replaced at a cost of £700 approx, which I haven't fully investigated yet...so the jury is still out on that one ?

It’s essentially a detuned D5 so read for that - I.e. very good.

If it has good history it should be ok... but as always do all the checks.
