Default Volvo 2003 XC90 Rear Sensors, Radio and wind screen

Hi All, I think I put this in general wants yesterday so here goes again.. it's been a while but today I have a problem. I had a flat battery so bought a new one and replaced it. Now I have no rear sensors, no radio and no rear windscreen wiper. Any help appreciated. Did try moving the windscreen wiper by hand and it moved across the windscreen slowly and stopped, tried the other way same thing happened. So now not sure what's going on. Cheers K

Is the new battery fully charged?

Does it start the car?

Do the problems persist when the engine is running?

Cheers

The sound from the rear parking sensors plays through the audio system amplifier to the passenger side rear door speaker

So if the audio system is faulty, that's why you have no parking sensor sound

Focus on the audio system:
Does the control panel light up? Can you change functions, and go to the radio, and search for and find radio stations? If so, the radio is powered up and working, and the issue is just sound output.

Check of course fader, volume and balance settings.
Check if a CD can be played.
Check the radio fuses (consult the owner's manual to see where they are)
You'll need to remove the kick panel above the driver's feet to access one of the fuse panels

As for the rear wiper, check the rear wiper fuse.

Once you've done all the above, it's time to get VIDA for further diagnosis. Either get VIDA yourself, or place a request in this forum for someone with VIDA in your area to help you.

Hi Dave

Yes its a new battery and fully charged

Yes it started the car no issues.

Yes the problems persist while the engine is running

As I said in the thread I tried to move the windscreen wiper and it moved slowly but only enough to move it to the side. Very strange as all was well until I changed the battery.

Cheers

Thanks Swiss XC90
This is a big help. I will look at the audio systems and let you know. Hopefully it will be straightforward.

Could also be the CEM hasn't liked the battery change, or has developed a problem at the same time which caused the battery drain. It's prone to water ingress.

The unit is behind the dash in the driver's footwell, though there's some cables and connectors up above in the scuttle below the windscreen, which is where the water comes in. I just had mine sorted by volvodiagnostic.

Evening all, thanks to the members who have given me their thoughts including PsYche. Due to the weather I have not got on as well as hoped but... today while driving the radio came on for a short time then went off but came on again after about 15mins. The rear sensors worked when I parked up and all seemed well with the world, then after about 30mins radio went off and when I stopped the sensors did not work.. I had checked all the fuses I thought were related but all ok. My thoughts are that it could be a short but I would appreciate any support on this. I still need to locate a volvodiagnostic person. Thanks in advance for any help. Keith

Hi, I had exactly this problem when I purchased my xc90 my2003 four years ago.

In my case it was the icm (infomation control module).

I got volvo diagnostics to diagnose and repair... Lifetime warranty

No problems since.

Note if icm fails, so will satnav and rear parking sensors.

Hope this helps
