Default Stabilus bonnet and boot struts.

Just thought I'd share my views on some replacement Stabilus struts for my 2006 XC90.

They are the new lift-o-mat version, but otherwise identical to the original Volvo branded Stabilus items.

Absolutely brilliant. Bought from Autodoc.

No more bonnet coming down on my head, or my boot squeaking and not lifting without assistance from me.

9247ZZ for the boot.
7656WY for the bonnet.

Prices please?

I'm guessing they are "affordable" given that you're from God's own County.

Cheers

I paid £69 for all four delivered from Germany.

I think they have just gone up on Autodoc though!

They're currently running at £79 for all four.

Are they an easy fit? Is it a matter of simply knocking the strut head off the ball by placing a small open spanner behind it and applying some hammer to that? Or is there a more finessed technique?

My boot struts are corroded and I suspect that one has lost its gas charge.

Easy peasy to fit. No spanners required.

You simply need something like a pick tool, that’s what I used, to lift the spring clip at each end of the old struts that are fitted to the car.

This basically unlocks it from the ball that’s bolted to the car.

New items just push straight on.

Just to add to this. Make sure to support the boot or bonnet when removing the struts. One strut is unlikely to support the weight of the panel, and you don't want to find out the hard way just how heavy a bonnet or boot is.

Having just narrowly avoided losing a few fingers to the delightful wind slamming my bonnet closed, further scrutiny shows that my struts are tired....

Where can I find these please guys ?

I've searched and found every other permutation...as you do.
My car is a 2008 XC70 D5 SE LUX.....and its only the Stabilus Lift-o-mat's I'm after....

Help appreciated Dave,
but the first are tailgate struts and the second are for the XC90.
