Black smoke on kickdown

Just got an S70 2.5D. Everything is great but i've noticed a puff of black smoke on kickdown. It doesn't last is literaly just a puff.
Being new to diesel i'm wondering if this is something i should be wary of?

Nope-sounds pretty normal to me. Mine does it all the time!

depending on how much on kick down will dictate if there is anything wrong,if its as you say i should not be too worried, remember these beast like a good italian tune up to get rid of the carbon build up, could you confirm that it is the audi lump or volvo engine.if its the audi lump the dynamic pump timing can cause black smoke if its out of the set parrimeters. enjoy the car. just read your sig block and its the audi lump

Yeah i've heard about the timing issue. I'll keep an eye on it thanks

My V50 2.0D does that. Doesnt concern me, doesnt use oil or leak so not concerned. We worry too much.

Mines the same although its manual, as I can loose the car behind in black reek if I drop down and floor it. Fantastic for tailgaters. ha. And my timings bang on!
