2011 S60 DPF & injector replacement
I have just found out my 2011 S60 with full main dealer service history and two weeks out of warranty requires a new DPF & a full set of injectors. The car has done 44k miles and the typical journey is 25 miles to work.
(plus it has had a new flywheel just within the warranty period) The estimate for the work is £3000. What sort of contribution from Volvo would people expect? |

We had a clutch fail in our Honda Accord out of warranty. Only 24 k miles. There was 'issues' with master cylinders, causing the clutch to slip undetected in that year. They changed everything, dmf, clutch and release bearing and the slave and master cylinder and we had to pay half the labour cost. About £350 or so, IIRC. This was 9 months out of 3yrs warranty. I wouldn't expect any injectors to fail in that time frame. DPF shouldn't either. 25 miles is a good run to help get it hot. I'd look at most of it, if you have a Volvo service history.

The Volvo dealer master technician is telling me the rest with a written estimate. It's taken them four days to come up with this conclusion and are still running 'further' diagnostics |

Think i would be asking more questions before forking so 3k out on repairs,
ie whats wrong with injectors, are they over fuelling or not fueling enough whats wrong with DPF, is it blocked and if so why is it blocked has the car not been regenerating and emptying it as it should

Their version of what does, or does not require replacement is very different to a good Indy garage. If the car starts well and is not smoking at idle or when booted, then I doubt if there is anything wrong with the injectors, although it's always worth running a top quality direct feed injection cleaner like Liqui Moly Diesel Purge. An easy way to do that is to fill up the fuel filter housing when changing the element. Not sure what exactly is included in the "Service required" warning, so it would be good if someone could list what that includes, as it might have been triggered by a simple oil change due timer (Might not have been reset last service). If it does include a blocked DPF, then if the engine is running well, see what happens after a Sunday morning motorway session.
