Default Dashboard instrument binnacle

Hi all,

The speedo dial back lighting has been dimmer than the rest of the instruments for a little while now. Its as if its stuck in the lowest setting that you can adjust it to (if anyone can make sense of that!)

I'm going to attempt to take the binnacle out soon and see what I can do but before I do does anyone have any advice / experience / info on doing this.

From what I've found so far the binnacle is lit using LED so a simple "bulb swap" looks out of the question. I get the feeling it may be a binnacle swap...

I'm having the same issue with mine, Mine is so dim I can't see the coolant temp or rev counter - speedo side of the binnacle is fine though.
I called my local Volvo dealer earlier to price one and it's around £700 for part and fitting

Anyone know if they can be fixed?

Hi

as said, instrument cluster in our car uses LEDs and is theoretically "non serviceable". I have seen, however, thread on replacing the LEDs yourself using ebay LEDs and some level of soldering skills. Not sure if it was here or on US forum, but I am positive it was done.
Will update here if I come across it but you can have a look yourself aswell.

So I've dug this up again as the entire speedo side of the cluster is now dark. After a good half day digging around the interweb I have finally found the info needed.

I've bought 10 of these: https://crazyleds.co.uk/all-leds/smd...lcc-2-3528-smd

and this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and I will be following this guide: https://forums.swedespeed.com/showth...ht-Replacement

Hopefully all goes well and I will do a thorough write up with piccies for future reference!
