Default Oil Level High

On my 2006 D5 185 with DPF.
The engine oil level on the dipstick is very high.
I have read on some posts that this could be due to the wrong oil being filled and the DPF putting fuel back into the engine!
Can anyone help on this as yesterday it came up with "soot filter full", but after a thrash down the bypass this cleared.
Also from time to time I get "Engine service required"
The car does not go into limp mode and until I get my VIDA/Dice working I cannot read faults only of a generic reader.

Thanks
SC

Back at the start of these DPF things there were a lot of sumps filling up with diesel fuel. The regeneration ( filter burn) is initiated by squirting fuel in on the exhaust stroke. If the process is unsuccessful and the car keeps trying the excess diesel ends up in the sump.
At the time I recall advice to dealers to fill to the lower dipstick mark at service time and software changes.
It may be that your regeneration is not working as intended. Do you make a lot of short trips?

Yes I live about 1 mile from work so it hardly even gets warm.
I'm getting the oil, oil filter and fuel filter changed today and I have told them to fill it only to half way. Volvo directive says to fill no higher than 2/3 to 3/4 full. Supposedly their was a recall on this but my car was a lease vehicle so may have missed this.
D5s should have a sticker somewhere warning only fill to 2/3 on the dipstick should of maybe changed the dipstick rather than putting a sticker on it.
My VW T5 with DPF never has had an issue with this.

I don't think that simply 'making space' for diesel sump dilution is the best solution (unless backed up with more frequent oil changes). Can't you fit in a decent run every now and again, or swap it for a petrol model?

Even if this car missed a software change and now gets it it is highly unlikely that it will be happy unless taking regular 50mph runs of twenty minutes or more.
More than one contributor here has switched to petrol for that reason.
