Default New car new problems!

Hi guys,

I have just brought a 1997 1.8 v40 with 55000 on the clock and a full service history... totally chuffed it's a great car..

However i'm having problems with the gearbox. To start with i can't get into reverse properly and first/second are pretty stiff.

So reading other threads it looked like it was the gear linkage bushings... ordered those and followed the very very good guides on here and got them in earlier the gears feel allot tighter now so they have helped but i still can't get reverse.

Anyway next stop the clutch.. had a look and have noticed some dirty oil leaking from the rubber seal around the master cylinder rod (?) in the footwell.

Do i need a new Master Cylinder? if so do you know where to find them i cant see them anywhere!?

or will one of these repair kits do the trick?

cheers!

Ello there, well the kit is only £7, so if I was you, I would give it ago, if its leaking you may not be getting the full push on the clutch pedal, but then again, what do I know, I drive an auto….lol

lol! thanks!

i do like the sound of a £7 repair kit instead of a presumably expensive full unit.. not sure if i should do it myself sounds fairly straight forward in the haynes manual though..
