Hi.
Barry`s right. NGK tend to start playing up after a few thousand miles.
OE plugs - made in Germany - so probably Bosch.
When you look at the tech. specs. of all makes they will say pretty much the same thing so you`re none the wiser.
What does differ widely is the price for Volvo plugs so it pays to shop around.
You can pay over £50 for a set of 5 , and pay less than £50 for a set of 6.
Volvo are crafty - they use generic parts across a range of vehicles yet each vehicle will have its own part number. Other manufacturers probably do the same.
My last set of plugs were 8692072 ( set of 6 for XC90-T6 ) on special from a Volvo dealer for under £30. Yet they are the same plug as 30637308 ( set of 5 for 850-T5 , 2.3-T5) at over £50.

Perhaps I'll fit new lambda sensors and spark plugs and see if it makes any difference. Robert DIY on Youtube reckons on doing the lambda sensors every 100K miles... I'll see what plugs I can get hold of, I reckon Bosch will be a safe bet.

Hi
I did a write up on alternatives to Volvo plugs, but for my n/a 2.4 S80.

I had a fluttery idle that came and went; it turned out to be a depleted battery and failing alternator.

Hope that helps.
