We are all fellow volvo owners here, or have some ford or bmw people joined the crew to stir the pot. Insults are not quite on par yet with those on the Focus ST/RS forums.

For what it's worth, the tailpipe on my Euro 5 5-pot is remarkably clean inside, and night and day different compared with a Euro 3. The modern after-treatment stuff really does work. Maybe not 'clean', but miles better than it used to be.

Yeah some of them are very unfriendly but anyone daft enough to buy a mk1 freelander deserves a bit of abuse for being so bloody stupid!

They’re alright.... or they were until they shoehorned a BMW Diesel engine in that wasn’t really compatible with rover wiring.

Keep in mind they were the first accessible small 4x4, came out around 1998 and built on a shoestring a la rover style....
