2017 XC60 D5 Auto Vredestein Quatrac Pro
Had these on a couple of months now after the cracking Contis were replaced. Tyres seem fairly quiet at speed but I do seem to get a slight drone / resonance between gearchanges especially if the engine is under load or on incline. Not sure whether it's just me used to driving my super smooth Merc V6 petrol or a combination of the all seasons and the D5 which isn't exactly the most refined of diesels (my opinion that is!). No apparent balance issues, judder, etc. but possibly doesn't completely rule a balance issue.

I find all seasons tend to run slightly noisier than summer tyres.
I have Goodyear 4Season on the Tiguan and when pulling off or at low speeds there is a define rumble from the tyres. And combine that with a 5cy diesel with offbeat vibration and it's not the most refine experience. My T5 petrol was much smoother than the D5 runs.

Must admit I can't remember what it was like with the Contis. Would be interesting to hear from other members with a D5 auto running summer tyres. No judder or vibration and if you give it a bit of stick it's not really noticeable. Just a drone / resonance at around 1500 rpm when changing up and the engine sort of 'labours' briefly.
It's probably just me never having had a diesel before and a succession of V6 petrol motors. We run full winters on both our Mercs and can't say I really notice any increase in noise although perhaps with rear wheel drive it wouldn't be so noticeable. |

Still seem to have a bit of a drone / resonance when it changes to a higher gear and the revs drop down to approx 1500 rpm. More pronounced when engine is under load or on incline. Not sure if it did it before with the Contis or I'm just more conscious now the all seasons have been fitted. Would appreciate comments from D5 AWD auto members running summer tyres.

I don’t think it was that refined in 2012 let alone now! It does have bags of grunt though and I love the noise! |
