My centre vent louvres on the passenger side were broken and flopped about, Someone local was sending his V70 to the carpark in the sky so offered parts before it went. I managed to get the centre vents and the gear lever cover. (manual and automatic have the same cover plate).

The interior is now so squeak free I heard a new noise today... A full bottle of water in the drivers door pocket was sloshing and I heard the noise as the water moved around. Apart from that and road noise the silence was deafening 🤣

Centre vents removed on Saturday and Hazard switch put back to prevent any DTCs when going to collect the replacement parts

After struggling to remove the centre vent from my car I am now an expert at it. New vents in and working perfectly

My gear lever cover plate was covered in scratches and lots of dents. I polished it and removed most of the scratches but there is nothing I can do with the dozens of dents. The replacement isn't perfect but it's a huge improvement on what I had

How long did it take you to get the vents out? And how likely is it that I'll break them getting them out of the donor car?

Mine also flop about on the passenger side much to the annoyance of my partner.

It's a pig to get out if you've never done it before. First time I started at driver side and it was tough work. It's much easier starting at passenger side, bottom clip then top, then next bottom then next top until all 8 clips are out. When putting back in start with driver side inserted and carefully work along. Piece of cake now... First time took me around 30 minutes as I didn't want to break anything, now about 1 minute...

Out the door at 7:00am this morning and home for 11:00am, gearbox oil flushed twice and serviced. Mechanic said the old oil was in good condition, no nasty smells but was just starting to change colour ever so slightly, so perfect time for an oil change.

I noticed when I was washing the V70 today that the rear wiper blade was overdue replacement and the thin edge was parting from its backing rubber. A quick check online and new genuine blades are around £25-£30. So I decided to save some cash and dug out a front blade I had for the XC90. It was only on the car for two weeks before being changed and I kept it as a spare. I changed the metal stays over and cut the rubber with a Stanley blade and refitted it to the rear of the V70 and the job's a good 'un

New stops fitted and no more rubbing on the inner arches

I don’t know what the drink was that had been spilled over the front of the radio/CCM area from the poorly designed and placed cup holder which sits next to the radio but it has caused me a lot of work sorting out and removing the offending sugary mess. The heater fan control knob had suffered terribly and the rubber soft touch coating was peeling and looked nasty. I removed the knob and cleaned the rubber coating off using Acetone, the results which although not as pleasing as original looked much better. Then when prepping the XC90 for sale I noticed the knob on that car was like new so I swapped them both over and the V70 is now back to an original look & feel

I also removed my dash cam from the XC90 and fitted 'some of it' to the V70.
After spending over an hour feeding the wire to the rear I discovered unlike the 850 and XC90 there is no way that I can see to feed the cable from the roof lining to the tailgate because of the way the hinge seal and existing wiring is fitted. If anyone has a solution I would be interested to know how you have got round this.

On mine the hinge arm has a plastic cap you can prise off and that's where the wiring goes through. Followed the same path as the existing wiring for wiper motor / upper brake light and jobs a goodun, easy

Yes I removed the plastic cap, but at the top of it there is a welded metal plate with a rubber seal, the original wire goes through the plate and is a tight fit, it then goes into the rubber tube/grommet and I can't see any way of threading my cable in.

Definitely. Always swap mine and keep them in a box for the next owner.
